Every day at Katy Cares we are confronted by real life situations like this: A young mother who has experienced a lifetime of pain at just 25 years old. She has three children to care for, ages 5, 3, and 18 months, and no place to call home.

She escaped a dysfunctional marriage with an abusive husband, who wants nothing do with her and their children. She will get very little support from him and must rely on the generosity of non-profits, her family, and friends to take care of her family. It doesn’t take long to discover the scars of traumatic abuse and abandonment. Her existence is fragile, and her only concern is how to care for her children today.

This is not an isolated story.

It is estimated that there are more than 5,000 single mothers and another 8,000 women in a dysfunctional relationship or marriage, in the Greater Katy, Fulshear, and Richmond Area alone.

Is there any hope for these lonely parents to break free from a life that is stuck in a cycle of abuse and poverty? Is there any hope for these thousands of single parents who share a common story of hurt and hopelessness?

Yes. This is where Katy Cares steps in.

For the thousands of single parents, mostly mothers and fathers also, struggling to escape this cycle of abuse and dysfunction, there is hope. For those feeling ill equipped to lead a single-parent family and care for their children, there is hope. For those who never learned the foundational skills necessary to financially make it, there is hope.

Hope is at home in the ministry of Katy Cares!
