The Katy community spontaneously rallied around Katy Cares this season and organized Gift Wrapping and Donation events benefitting single mothers and children. Krystle Hermis, owner of Katy Maids, in association with Crystal Vela of Keller Williams Signature Realty. Johnna Sawyer, the owner of Wellhead Sports Bar, hosted a Gift Wrapping and Donation event at 1315 West Grand Parkway South Suite 101, in Katy. Lisa Kim, Title Consultant at Celebrity Title, located at the Greenhouse exit, I10 Freeway, Katy, organized an event at Celebrity Title in December. Several mothers and children benefited from the generous, kind and diligent efforts of these ladies from the respective companies coupled with the members of our community who stopped by and donated generously.

Celebrity Title invited their clients and associates to a gift wrapping and donation event held on at their office. Lisa and her team provided gift wrapping paper, bows, ribbons, decorations, cards and tape and invited their clients to come and wrap the gifts for their loved ones on-site, and at the same time, donate gifts to Katy Cares. A meeting between Katy Cares, Inc. and Houston Volunteer Lawyers (HVL), a non-profit service of the Houston Bar Association, was facilitated by Dr. Jennifer Mizulski (left), an attorney at the Quan Law Group. Barbara "Bobbie" Cochran (right), Staff Attorney, represented HVL and Dr. Dawid J. Pieterse represented Katy Cares. The objective of the meeting was to facilitate legal support services for the single led families, single mothers and children, who are enrolled in the Katy Cares Trauma Informed Therapeutic Program. The Rachel Ballard House has been established as the new home for Katy Cares, LLC. On Friday, August 18, 2017, The Ballard Foundation revealed the name of the new Katy Cares facility. This first home on the property will provide a safe and stable environment for homeless mothers and children. It will give them the opportunity to discover their unique purpose, and embark on a challenging and rewarding journey toward hope for their future. We are honored to be partners with The Ballard Foundation and for the home to be named after such a remarkable woman.
